South Dade Senior High School band director Scott Michael Davis was arrested on November 14, 2023, for having a sexual contact with a juvenile pupil
The student had a mental health crisis after a breakup in November, prompting the alleged connection.
Davis is charged with sexual conduct with a juvenile, authority figure offences against students, and contributing to minor delinquency.
Tuesday, November 14, 2023, saw his arrest and transfer to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre.
After a comprehensive investigation by the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, Davis was fired from his job.
The school system said they were profoundly worried by the claims and fired Davis.
Davis was chosen "teacher of the year" in October, however the allegations of misbehaviour have led to legal action and firing.
